UQP are thrilled to share the news that Sonny and Tesshas been shortlisted for the 2026 Indie Book Awards (Young Adult).

The Indie Book Awards were established in 2008 with the aim of celebrating the enormous depth and range of literary talent in this nation.

The Indie Book Awards is unique as all nominations and entries are voted on by independent Australian booksellers. Leading Edge Books, a buying and marketing group behind some of Australia's best independent bookstores, are proud to coordinate the administration and promotion of the Indie Book Awards.

Sonny and Tess
is one of 10 books shortlisted for the Young Adult category, alongside Sarah Brill's Catch (Allen & Unwin Children's), Sophie Clark's Cruel is the Light (Penguin Australia), Robbie Coburn's The Foal in the Wire (Lothian Children's Books), Amy Doak's Eleanor Jones is Playing with Fire (Penguin Australia), Jason Gent's This Season's Draft (Allen & Unwin Children's), Pip Harry's Drift (Lothian Children's Books), Barry Jonsberg's Darkest Night, Brightest Star (Allen & Unwin Children's), Lynette Noni's Wandering Wild (Penguin Australia) and Lili Wilkinson's Unhallowed Halls (Allen & Unwin Children's)

Winners will be announced at a virtual event on 25 March.
