Jackie Huggins and Aileen Moreton-Robinson in conversation

Join Dr Jackie Huggins and Distinguished Professor Aileen Moreton-Robinson as they discuss their groundbreaking books, Sister Girl and Talkin' Up to the White Woman.

Sister Girl is a seminal collection that represents almost four decades of writing by historian and activist Jackie Huggins. These essays, speeches and interviews combine both the public and the personal in a bold trajectory tracing one Murri woman’s journey towards self-discovery and human understanding. As a widely respected cultural educator and analyst, Huggins offers an Aboriginal view of the history, values and struggles of Indigenous people.

Talkin' Up to the White Woman undertakes a compelling analysis of the whiteness of Australian feminism and its effects on Indigenous women. From an Indigenous woman’s standpoint, as a Goenpul woman and an academic, Moreton-Robinson ‘talks up’, engages with and interrogates western feminism in representation and practice.

This is a hybrid event that shouldn't be missed! Online tickets are $5 and instore tickets are $15. Registration is essential.
