UQP opens an on-campus bookshop at the University of Queensland
UQP is delighted to announce the launch of the UQP Bookshop, an on-campus bookshop at the main University of Queensland campus in St Lucia, Brisbane.
The UQP Bookshop gives the 50,000 University of Queensland students and its 7,000 staff the opportunity to purchase some of Australia’s greatest books, as published by the university’s own acclaimed university press, as well as course assigned UQP titles.
A valuable showcase for both UQP’s extraordinary literary history as well as its boundary-pushing present, the shop carries original editions of celebrated Australian titles including Elizabeth Jolley’s 1984 novel Miss Peabody’s Inheritance and Gillian Mears’ 1990 short story collection Fineflour, as well as Melissa Lucashenko’s Miles Franklin award-winning Too Much Lip, Charles Massy’s bestselling work of non-fiction Call of the Reed Warbler, picture books, children’s and young adult titles, and leading poetry collections. Also, on offer are signed copies of new release titles.
UQP sales manager Kirsty Wilson says, ‘It’s every publisher’s dream to have a bookshop dedicated exclusively to their titles, where readers can discover not only their bestsellers and new releases but their backlist gems. Where else but in the UQP Bookshop could you find original 1980s editions of Elizabeth Jolley, Alexis Wright’s 1997 debut Plains of Promise, and Doris Pilkington’s Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence all on the one shelf? You’re browsing Australian literary history.’
Staff and students are entitled to 10% off the RRP on all orders while those who sign up to become UQP members receive 20% off their first order.
The UQP Bookshop is located in the Biological Sciences Library on the St Lucia campus.
