UQP Quentin Bryce Award event

Tune in as Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO talks with Sarah Walker about her dazzling essay collection, The First Time I Thought I Was Dying, winner of the 2021 Quentin Bryce Award.

The event will be hosted by Shastra Deo, Lecturer in Creative Writing in the School of Communication and the Arts, The University of Queensland.

‘As soon as I started reading Sarah Walker’s book, I knew I was in the presence of a special writer. There’s a freshness and immediacy to the voice, and an incisiveness and intelligence to the writing, that captured my attention throughout.’ – Quentin Bryce AD CVO

Established in association with The University of Queensland (UQ), the annual UQP Quentin Bryce Award is awarded to one book on UQP’s list that celebrates women’s lives or promotes gender equality, with the winner chosen by Bryce.
