Fresh Takes: Spring ’26

Discover some of the best new works publishing this season, featuring readings from established and emerging writers, alongside reflections on the voices that have shaped their work.

Fresh Takes is a seasonal showcase of some of the best new pieces of publishing. It features established and emerging writers, as they read from their new works and reflect on the writers and creators who have shaped them.

The spring line-up features Barry Corr (Surveying the Wild Abyss: Unravelling settler memory), Neha Kale (Foreign Return: On art and inhabitation), Dinuka McKenzie (She Lied First), Laura McPhee-Browne (Worry Doll), Jaclyn Moriarty (Time Travel for Beginners) and Jordan Prosser (Blue Giant).

The Library Café will be open from 5.30 pm and throughout the event for drinks and nibbles.

Jordan Prosser

Jordan Prosser is an author and screenwriter based in Naarm/Melbourne. He won the Peter Carey Short Story Award in 2022. His debut novel, Big Time, was shortlisted for the Matt Richell Award for New Writer of the Year at the Australian Book Industry Awards and the Aurealis Award for Best Science Fiction Novel. The UK edition of Big Time was longlisted for the Royal Society of Literature's Ondaatje Prize. Blue Giant is his second novel.
