Discover the beauty of Cheryl Leavy’s bilingual children’s picture book, Yanga Mother (UQ Press), featuring artwork by renowned Meriam and Yupungathi artist Christopher Bassi, through engaging public talks, a delightful afternoon tea, and an optional hands-on translation workshop. This book is a timely and poetic celebration of motherhood and First Nations languages

Program

  • 1 pm: Public talks by author Cheryl Leavy and UQ Press editor and publisher, Cathy Vallance.
  • 2 pm: Afternoon tea (provided).
  • 2:30 pm: [Optional] Hands-on translation workshop. Workshop leaders will advise on translation into Japanese and Chinese. Translators into other languages welcome.
