Leo and Ralph shortlisted for the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards 2024- five to eight years category.

Congratulations to UQP author Peter Carnavas on his award shortlisting for his novel Leo and Ralph.

The Book of the Year Awards are judged by a panel of Certified Practising Speech Pathologists with specific knowledge and skill in children’s language and literacy development.

Each nominated book is judged on its appeal to children, interactive quality and ability to assist speech pathologists and parents in facilitating the development of communication and literacy in children.

Leo and Ralph have been best friends ever since Ralph flew down from one of Jupiter's moons. But now Leo's older, and Mum and Dad think it’s time to say goodbye to Ralph. When the family moves to a small country town, they hope Leo might finally make a real friend. But someone like Ralph is hard to leave behind.

Perfect for kids who enjoy gentle, thoughtful stories like The Wild Robot by Peter Brown and the Polly and Buster series by Sally Rippin.

Congratulations to all the shortlisted nominees.
