Jarad Bruinstroop wins 2024 Wesley Michel Wright Prize

Congratulations to Jarad Bruinstroop, winner of the 2024 Wesley Michel Wright Prize for an original work of verse or poetry for his Thomas Shapcott winning collection Reliefs.

The judges had this to say about Jarad's poetry:

Jarad’s poems were awarded for their extraordinary dimension of lyric beauty and their capacity to hold and present the irreparability of old and enduring injustices in such a way as to elicit thought.

Jarad Bruinstoop’s poems showcase their extraordinary dimension of lyric beauty — not just in the sense of the production of a pleasurable form, but for their capacity to hold and present the irreparability of old and enduring injustices in such a way as to elicit thought.

On winning the prize Jarad says:

"I’m thrilled to be joining the list of esteemed past winners of the prize which includes some of my favourite Australian poets.
