2024 Queensland Literary Awards now open
Calling all emerging writers!
We're excited to announce that the 2024 Queensland Literary Awards are now open for entries, with two major development awards accepting unpublished manuscripts. The winners from each award will receive a cash prize plus manuscript development and publication with UQP.

David Unaipon Award for an Emerging Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Writer
Supported by the Copyright Agency's Cultural Fund
This prize is awarded to an unpublished manuscript by an emerging Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander writer. This award accepts entries across any literary category, including novels, short stories, poetry collections, works for children, biographies, memoirs and general non-fiction.
Winners receive $20,000 AUD plus manuscript development and publication with UQP. Previous winners of the David Unaipon Award include Mykaela Saunders (Always Will Be), Tara June Winch (Swallow the Air) and Ellen van Neerven (Heat and Light).

Glendower Award for an Emerging Queensland Writer
Supported by Jenny Summerson through the Queensland Library Foundation
This prize is awarded to an unpublished manuscript by an emerging Queensland writer. This year, entries include not only fiction (novels, short stories and works for children), but also biography, memoir, autobiography and general non-fiction.
Winners receive $15,000 AUD plus manuscript development and publication with UQP. Previous winners of the Glendower Award include Yen-Rong Wong (me, her, us), Siang Lu (The Whitewash) and Rhiannon Wilde (Henry Hamlet’s Heart). John Richards (The Gorgon Flower) also achieved publication after being shortlisted for the Glendower Award.
