UQP authors at Write Around the Murray Festival 2022
For five days in September, Write Around the Murray (WAM) brings people together in Albury Wodonga for a festival of storytelling unlike anywhere else. Join UQP authors Patti Miller and Zana Fraillon for their events at this years' festival.
Thursday 15 September
10:00am and 11:00am Creatures, Creations and Curiosities (Schools Program: Primary School Sessions)
A hands-on workshop with Zana Fraillon on the creation of wonderous characters and the joys of picture book making.
Friday 16 September
10:30am Twisting into Other - The Lost Art of Speaking Dog writing workshop (Schools Program: Primary School Sessions)
Zana Fraillon will show students how to twist into the skins of humans' most ancient companions and see the world from a dog's point of snout.
1:00pm The Craft of Writing, Student Led Q&A (Schools Program: Secondary School Sessions)
Zana Fraillon will be answering any and all questions thrown her way. From tips on writing craft, character creation and story prompts, to secrets from the writers' room.
Saturday 17 September
10:00am Life Stories with Patti Miller
This 2-hour workshop on life writing with Patti Miller will explore how to get started, how to access particular memories and how to bring the colour and texture of experience to vivid life on the page.
1:30pm Truth and Storytelling
As long-established writers and teachers of writing, Patti Miller and Lee Kofman have amassed a wealth of experience, knowledge and craft throughout their careers. They have also honed an emotional honesty and generosity reflected in their recent non-fiction works, True Friends and The Writer Laid Bare. Eliza Henry-Jones opens up a rich conversation with them about creativity, memory, truth and storytelling that will inspire writers and enrich the experience of readers.
