Australia & Australia Featuring Siang Lu, Yumna Kassab & Leah Purcell moderated by Adam Norris - Saturday 8th of June 3:00pm
When we speak of Australia, what exactly do we mean?
Are we speaking of the pulse of city life, or do we mean the fellowship of rural life? The forgotten places of the familiar home? How do we give a voice to all this country has to say?
Throughout our history, the story of Australia too-often pushed certain voices to the margins; they have been spoken over or silenced altogether.
But more recently, we see some of the most powerful and insightful literature of this sunburned country is coming from backgrounds that were once excluded.
Is there one Australia? Are there many?
These incredible authors show us a country and characters that defy easy answers.

Deep in the woods of literature, stories of speculative fiction defy your expectations.
They twist and turn, take on new forms, and speak in voices far removed from the everyday.
Yet despite how distant they might seem from our everyday life, these stories can tell us a great deal about our lives and the world at large. They can open our eyes to other cultures, to other worlds and experiences.
But how do we coax those wild fictions onto the page? These bold and innovative authors show us that the most captivating tales can come from the most unexpected directions.
