About Life Drawing Sessions

Founded in 2014 by artist Rebecca Cunningham at the Dust Temple on the Gold Coast, Life Drawing Sessions has grown from a small local event into one of Australia’s most sought-after life drawing experiences. Over the past 11 years, our sessions have been hosted at iconic venues including the Dust Temple, The Bearded Lady, Miami Marketta, The Junk Bar, Archive West End, and Mapleton Public House, bringing together artists, creatives, and beginners for evenings of immersive artistic practice.

At our social Life Drawing Sessions, we focus on the joy of the creative process rather than the outcome of your drawing. With music and inspiring models, we provide a relaxed, inclusive environment suitable for all skill levels—from novice sketchers to experienced artists.

About the Book

Hypothetically, would you want to live forever but invisible, or a short life seen? Hypothetically, would you give up wine forever or sex for ten years? Hypothetically, would you show a friend someone else’s nude?

Maisie and Charlie meet at a life drawing session as undergraduates: she’s the model, he’s an artist. Their immediate connection carries them across two decades as they navigate the slippery dynamics of friendship, estrangement and family.

Maisie’s story is every woman’s, and Emily Lighezzolo’s bold debut interrogates the collision of art and gaze, desire and consent, muse and meaning. This is a love story. At its core: a woman’s body – seen, touched, loved, hated, commodified and reclaimed. Life Drawing is an award-winning and unflinching novel for our times.
