In conversation with Sarah Malik on Desi Girl

As a Pakistani-Australian teenager growing up in western Sydney, Sarah Malik came of age in the shadow of September 11.

In her collection of memoir-style essays Desi Girl, the Walkley Award-winner dissects the many layers of identity that have shaped her, from faith to feminism, race and class. Sarah will discuss the power of writing from the margins and how to find – and take – your place in the world.

Sarah will be in conversation with Shankari Chandran, an Australian Tamil lawyer and author of Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens.
