Author talk and book reading with Maria Speyer

Maria Speyer reads from A Feather on a Wing and talks about writing and illustrating across two countries and cultures – Denmark, where she was born, and Australia, where she now lives and works.

Picture book translation workshop

Translate A Feather on a Wing from English, working in small groups alongside the author. Guidance is provided for translation into Japanese, but you're welcome to bring any language and any level of experience. Bilingual and multilingual participants can opt in when they register.

About Maria Speyer

Maria Speyer is a Danish-born artist, illustrator, and athor with a background in architecture. She now draws, paints and writes from her studio in Sydney. She has presented on imagistic thinking and the phenomenology of drawing, and has published and illustrated several Danish children's books. A Feather on a Wing (2022) is her first book in English.
