An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Editor to join the University of Queensland Press (UQP).

About This Opportunity

Join University of Queensland Press (UQP), one of Australia’s most respected publishing houses as a Senior Editor and help bring exceptional stories and ideas to life. Reporting to the Managing Editor and working closely with a collaborative, inclusive and purposeful publishing team, the Senior Editor will independently manage the editorial and production lifecycle of a diverse portfolio of adult fiction, non-fiction and children’s publishing titles. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a culture of excellence while working with authors, creatives and publishing professionals to create meaningful impact through books that inform, inspire and connect communities. The role reflects UQ’s commitment to creating change together through collaboration, innovation and high-quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Independently project manage the editorial and production process for multiple book titles from manuscript to print publication.
• Undertake complex structural editing, copy editing and manuscript assessment to maintain the highest editorial standards.
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with authors, freelancers, designers, proofreaders, typesetters and other publishing partners.
• Write compelling cover copy and marketing content and collaborate with sales and marketing teams on title positioning and promotion.
