UQP acquires new non-fiction book from bestselling author Kári Gíslason
We're delighted to announce that UQP has acquired world rights for Kári Gíslason’s new non-fiction book Running with Pirates. The deal was brokered by Grace Heifetz of Left Bank Literary. Set on the Greek island of Corfu in two absorbing narratives thirty years apart, Running with Pirates tells of a debt that can never really be repaid. Gíslason traverses the joys and challenges of parenthood, the fearlessness of youth, and the stories we tell ourselves and our children.
Publishing Director Madonna Duffy says,
‘I have had the pleasure of publishing Kári’s fiction and non-fiction since his debut, The Promise of Iceland. The beauty of his writing, the depth of his intellect and his skill at illuminating other times and places are always a joy to read.’
Kári Gíslason says,
'Running
with Pirates is a very personal family
story, and so it means a lot to me to be working with Madonna Duffy and a team
that I’ve collaborated with in the past and formed a strong bond with. UQP is
an extraordinary publisher, and I feel so fortunate to have their ongoing
support of my writing.'
Running with Pirates will be
published in August 2024.
