Tony Birch wins The Age Fiction Book of the Year Award 2024

Congratulations Tony Birch, whose latest novel Women & Children has won The Age 2024 Fiction Book of the Year Award!

The prize was announced this evening as part of the opening night of this year’s Melbourne Writers Festival. Tony will receive $10,000 in prize money, courtesy of the Copyright Agency’s cultural fund.

The fiction judges described Birch’s novel about domestic violence as “a book that will live with you”.
