Sara Haddad's 'The Sunbird' acquired by UQP.

UQP is delighted to announce the acquisition of The Sunbird by Sara Haddad – a gem-like parable about Palestine, timely and prismatic. UQP’s edition is released on 3 December 2024 and is available to be ordered via PRHD now.

Originally self-published, The Sunbird has already become an indie bestseller and has garnered praise from some of Australia’s most esteemed writers including Bruce Pascoe, Michelle de Kretser and Amal Awad.

Author Sara Haddad says, 'I wrote The Sunbird to educate and raise awareness. It is necessarily brief, to counter the narrative that the question of Palestine is complicated, to be read in a single sitting, to be accessible to readers of all ages and all reading levels.’

The Sunbird discusses themes of migration, post-colonial dispossession and displacement, truth-telling, protest, community, identity, belonging and culture.
