Little Bones by Sandy Bigna is a 2026 CBCA Honour Book, Younger Readers Book of the Year

A huge congratulations to author Sandy Bigna and her book Little Bones which has been awarded as a 2026 CBCA Honour Book, Young Readers Book of the Year.

Since 1946, the CBCA awards have recognised the incredible talent and imagination that fuel the books our young readers cherish, and the creators who continue to shape our understanding of childhood, curiosity and compassion through story.

Combining lyrical storytelling, gentle magic and heartfelt emotion, this verse novel handles grief with care and compassion. As the judges' observed:

Little Bones was chosen for the gentle ways it deals with grief in its many manifestations.

This is a huge achievement for an exceptional book and author, and we are thrilled for Sandy. Congratulations once again.
