Dr JM Fields' book 'The Eagle and The Crow' wins the 2026 Native American and Indigenous Studies Association’s (NAISA) Best First Book Award

Congratulations to Dr JM Field who has been awarded the 2026 Native American and Indigenous Studies Association’s (NAISA) Best First Book Award for his debut non-fiction book The Eagle and The Crow.

The Native American and Indigenous Studies Association's Best First Book Award is an annual literary prize awarded to a scholarly work by a first-time author in the field of Indigenous Studies. Of his book The Eagle and The Crow, The NAISA council said:

The award was announced at the annual NAISA conference held in the city of Temuco in what is today called “southern Chile”– one of the epicenters of Wallmapu (Mapuche People’s territory).
