We are delighted to announce that two UQP titles have made the 2026 CBCA Book of the Year Awards shortlists!
Little Bones: Sandy Bigna – Younger Readers
The Frog’s First Song: Jazz Money and Jason Phu – Picture Book
A huge congratulations to the wonderful authors and illustrators behind these gorgeous books.
In 2026, the Children’s Book Council of Australia proudly marks the 80th year of the Book of the Year Awards. Since 1946, these awards have recognised the incredible talent and imagination that fuel the books our young readers cherish, and the creators who continue to shape our understanding of childhood, curiosity and compassion through story.
The CBCA presents annual awards to Australian books of literary merit for outstanding contribution to Australian children’s literature.
These awards are now the most influential and highly respected literary award for children in Australia. The Awards affirm the quality of some of Australia’s most creative people and provide a boost to their capacity to devote time to their craft.
