Stuart Barnes

Biography

Stuart Barnes was born and grew up in Tasmania and lived in Victoria for seventeen years before moving to Queensland. His first book, Glasshouses (2016), won the Arts Queensland Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize, was commended for the FAW Anne Elder Award and shortlisted for the ASAL Dame Mary Gilmore Award. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Philosophy from Monash University and his writing has appeared in a variety of publications, including The Anthology of Australian Prose Poetry, Cordite Poetry Review, Griffith Review, The Moth, Overland, POETRY (Chicago) and Rabbit: a journal for nonfiction poetry. From 2013 - 2017 Stuart was the poetry editor of Tincture Journal and from 2017 - 2019 was a program adviser for Queensland Poetry Festival. He is currently working on his second poetry collection and a novel.
