David Walker


David Walker grew up in South Australia and graduated from Adelaide University. After gaining his doctorate in history from the Australian National University in Canberra he taught at Auckland University and the University of New South Wales. He is currently Professor of Australian Studies at Deakin University. In 1997-98 he held the Monash Chair of Australian Studies at Georgetown University, Washington, DC. He has extensive experience in the development of Australian Studies programs in Indonesia, PR China and Japan. David Walker has published widely on Australian social and cultural history and edits the journal, Australian Cultural History. His book Anxious Nation: Australia and the Rise of Asia 1850 -1939 was published by UQP in 1999
