Joan Elizabeth Van Loon

Joan van Loon was born in Melbourne and grew up in the inner city suburb of Hawthorn. She taught English for some years and after marriage and the birth of her three daughters, she began writing. Her children’s picture story books have been published in Australia and overseas. She has also written short stories for adults. Joan works as a librarian at Mentone Girls Grammar, working with children and surrounded by books.

Chantal Stewart

Born in Paris, Chantal as devoted her life to art, interspersed with raising two famlies and travelling to broaden her horizons and influences. She studied at the Paris Ecole des Arts Appliques (School of Applied Arts)and commenced her career as a graphic designer and illustrator in the advertising ad publishing milieu of Paris. Chantal works for some of Australia's most renowned publishers including Penguin, Allen and Unwin, University of Queensland Press and Macmillan. She has won many awards for her books - her first joint effort with chef, Gabriel Gate, Anyone Can Cook won the Gourmand award for Best Cook Book for Kids in English and the second, The Chocolate Lovers won the Gourmand award for Best in the World Children's Cook Book.
